UGA Grad Co-Founds Jewelry Company Featuring Lab-Grown Diamonds

John’s Creek-born UGA grad Dhruv Gupta and business partner Lukas Correa have co-founded a new company that offers engagement enthusiasts a lower cost for diamonds, and diamond alternatives.

Through their company’s site, Harmony Bound, they offer eco-friendly, IGI (International Gemological Institute) certified lab-grown diamonds directly to the consumer.

Harmony Bound sells top quality and alternative diamonds for prices less than the normal manufacturers.

“When we began researching the opportunity for this company, we quickly realized that diamonds are highly overpriced in other ecommerce stores like Brilliant Earth, Blue Nile and Kay Jewelers, so we decided to offer the highest quality diamonds, but at more economical prices,” said Dhruv.

Harmony Bound has less overhead, no brick and mortar store and only a few employees, keeping costs down further.

Harmony Bound started with a few products, and now offers more than 200 products including wedding rings, tennis bracelets, diamond earrings and engagement rings.

One diamond alternative, Moissanite, has proven to be highly attractive to shoppers in recent years.

“One of the newest non-diamonds, Moissanite, has proven to be one of the busiest pages on the site,” said Lukas.

“The lab-grown diamond alternative is brighter and harder than regular diamonds. However, they are more attractive to the younger crowds because of their economic price points. This was a deciding factor in bringing these products to our company. It allowed customers to purchase these substitutes at prices they could afford, while still showing commitment to a relationship through a brighter diamond alternative,” he added.

Added Dhruv, “After realizing my family was close to the diamond manufacturers overseas, it was important to me to bring the diamonds to my local community. Plus, through more investigation, I found out that the country we source from is one of the top diamond-producing nations in the world.”

“Through our research, we have identified diamond labs that cultivate top-quality diamonds. These diamonds not only meet but also surpass the same rigorous tests that mined diamonds undergo. This meticulous process ensures the production of diamonds of the highest quality. All lab-grown diamonds go through High Temperature Testing and a Chemical Vapor testing that simulates the earth’s natural process of producing mined diamonds.
