BronzeLens 2024 Logo

The Atlanta-based BronzeLens Film Festival recently announced its list of nominated films for 2024. Of the 140 global, best-in-class official selections written, produced and directed by (or about) people of color, 48 are world premieres and 28 of the films were produced in Georgia.

Film selection categories include short narratives, feature narratives, documentaries, dance, arts, web series, music videos and student films. Countries of origin for the nominated selections include France, Spain, Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Iran, the Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Jordan and Brazil.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2024, the BronzeLens Film Festival is a successful non-profit organization dedicated to bringing national and worldwide attention to Atlanta as a center for film production for people of color and also provide networking opportunities that will develop the next generation of filmmakers.

Additionally, BronzeLens is an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences qualifying festival for their Short Film Awards category. The film that receives BronzeLens’ Best Short Award may then be eligible for nomination to the Academy’s Short Subject competition for the concurrent season.

This year’s BronzLens festivities kicked off on August 21 and run through August 25 with daily screenings of nominated selections at Tara Atlanta (2345 Cheshire Bridge Road, N.E.). Organizers are also presenting panels, workshops and other special events during the five-day festival and will host an inaugural Filmmakers Ball at Atlanta City Hall Atrium on August 24.

Winners will be announced during the annual BronzeLens Awards Show ceremony held at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center on August 25.
