Volunteers Invited to Join the #GreatDunwoodyCleanup

Registration is underway for this community-wide cleanup on November 2.

The City of Dunwoody invites volunteers to participate in the #GreatDunwoodyCleanup on Saturday, November 2 from sunrise to sunset.

This community-wide event is designed to make it easy for individuals, families, neighbors, teams, schools and civic groups to pitch in to help keep streams and storm drains clean by removing trash and debris from public areas.

“This is our fourth year for the event, and we’re excited to see it grow,” said Dunwoody Stormwater Engineer Cody Dallas. “This volunteer event is accessible and flexible. It allows everyone to do their part to keep trash and debris from polluting our waterways.”

Individual participants and groups are encouraged to do the following:

• Choose a spot to clean in Dunwoody. It can be a street, stream, neighborhood common area or wooded area.

• Fill out the online form to share your plans with Dunwoody’s stormwater team.

• Post cleanup photos on social media on November 2 using the hashtag #GreatDunwoodyCleanup. Email photos to communications@dunwoodyga.gov.

Another way to volunteer

The Dunwoody Nature Center is also taking part in the event by leading a cleanup project of their own on November 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. They welcome volunteers of all ages, though children must be accompanied by an adult and online registration is required.

Tasks and duties will be dependent on the needs of the park, but may include clearing trails, weeding and removing invasive plants, spreading mulch, plantings and more. Participants are welcome to come with a group, but requests for specific tasks cannot be accommodated.

The details

This is a rain-or-shine event that will last from sunrise to sundown. Community service verification is available upon request.
