Local nonprofit is recognized as an organization that cares about the happiness of its employees and the families it serves

Establishing itself among the top organizations to work for in metro Atlanta, Rainbow Village has been certified as an Amazing Workplace®. Following a certification process that began last year, the nonprofit dedicated to bringing Help, Hope, Housing and Healing to families experiencing homelessness has proven its dedication to nurturing a positive workplace culture.

Amazing Workplace certification involves anonymous employee feedback to identify critical areas contributing to employee happiness. That feedback is also designed to identify actions an organization can take to improve employee happiness.

“We’re a relatively small team with a huge mission,” said Rainbow Village CEO Melanie Conner. “While countless rewards come from doing the good work of helping families strive towards self-sufficiency, many days are long and hard. Families often come to us traumatized by everything that led them to a place of homelessness. This certification means a great deal to me. It shows that the team of 14 we’ve built here is cohesive and happy.”

“We still have some work to do,” Conner continued, “but I’ll take the designation of ‘AMAZING’ any day! Having a happy team makes sharing that happiness with the families we serve easier.”

Conversations and happy results

To achieve the honor of Amazing Workplace, companies and organizations must have 75% or more of their workforce independently verify that they are happy at their workplace. Rainbow Village received an impressive 82% “happiness” score.

To gather feedback for the certification, Amazing Workplace created the first-ever conversation platform. Over 95% of participants prefer Amazing Workplace conversations over traditional surveys.

Thanks to the company’s conversation technology, participation rates are over twice the industry average.

One of those conversations with an anonymous Rainbow Village employee revealed, “I love the work environment and the people! I like feeling appreciated, respected and valued. Everyone gets along very well, and we all share the same values of helping the underserved.”

New capital campaign leads to career opportunities

Conner added, “It’s particularly imperative that our employees are happy this year. We’ve recently launched our ‘Building Homes, Building Hope’ Capital Campaign to raise the funds needed to more than double our capacity at Rainbow Village.

Not only will we expand the number of available apartments on our campus, but we will more than double the number of families we serve. That will mean welcoming new team members into the fold, so being recognized as an Amazing Workplace will undoubtedly make us more attractive to prospective new employees.”
