The Georgia Chapter of Voices of Black Mothers United (VBMU) will hold a community event with members of local law enforcement in Lawrenceville on April 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

The event will feature District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson of Gwinnett County, Sheriff Keybo Taylor of Gwinnett County and Sheriff Patrick Labat of Fulton County, as well as Rhonda Knight, survivor of violence and Georgia VBMU state lead.

The event is open to the public and will feature words of encouragement, self-defense demonstrations and other resources for community members to heal from violence.

Since 1981, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week has challenged the nation to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all victims of crime.
