Norcross Gallery & Studios’ recently announced their Artist of the Month — Adam “AP” Faust.
Faust is the current operations director of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center where he curates exhibitions and programs in collaboration with various Atlanta arts organizations, educators and artists at all stages of their careers.
With a BFA from Guilford College in North Carolina with an emphasis on sculpture, Faust soon embraced collage as his primary art form, drawn by the wealth of materials and the creative process, “delving into surrealist explorations of the subconscious through dreams and automatism.”
Inspired by nature sculptor Andy Goldsworthy and artist members of the Brooklyn Collage Collective, Faust’s goal is to encourage viewers to develop a new perspective and narrative and see something personal in his works.
More about the artist
Before joining Callanwolde, Faust ran his own creative services company, Adam Good Job ATL. There, he completed a variety of projects, including odd jobs, custom murals, signage and art installations for small businesses and private clients. These widely varied experiences and projects all influence his work today.
At Callanwolde he wears many hats — collaborating, curating and installing exhibits and broadening viewer audiences and artist participation, which have been a source of pride for him. His greatest disappointment, he says, is a lack of sufficient funding to support art and artists.
Exhibit and reception
As Artist of the Month, his work is currently displayed at 45 South Cafe, located in beautiful downtown Norcross. A local favorite that offers everyone who comes in a warm greeting, hot coffee and a welcoming ambiance, it’s also a showcase of local art and artists.
Faust’s exceptional exhibit opened on May 3 and will continue through June 15. Norcross Gallery & Studios will also host a reception for him on June 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
