Greater Atlanta Christian School (GAC) has announced the selection of seven finalists to the highly competitive Georgia Governor’s Honor’s Program (GHP).
The GHP is a residential summer program for rising juniors and seniors. The program offers instruction designed to provide students with the academic, cultural and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators and leaders.
Approximately 4,200 students were nominated this year to the state-level process. Nominees compete through rounds of interviews and performances, narrowing to 1,500 semi-finalists and then to approximately 650 finalists. Each of Georgia’s 12 economic development regions is represented in the selections.
The GHP program will be held at Georgia Southern University from June 16 to July 13. Students will attend classes in the mornings and afternoons in their specific area of study. Evening activities include a variety of social and instructional opportunities.
Here are the Greater Atlanta Christian School finalists for the 2024 Georgia Governor’s Honors Program.

- Laila Washington (Voice: Soprano), daughter of Michael and Kathy Washington of Stone Mountain.
- Sydney Barbour (Voice: Soprano), daughter of Scott and Alyssa Barbour of Suwanee.
- Noah An (Woodwind: Clarinet), son of Young and Hannah of Atlanta.
- Bayan Mardon (Social Studies), son of Clement and Hoda Mardon of Brookhaven.
- Nicholas Nandlal-Smith (Theatre: Performance), son of Zachary Smith and Charlene Nandlal-Smith of Lawrenceville.
- Benjamin Rosero (World Languages: French), son of George and Kim Rosero of Atlanta
