German rotary joint distribution facility triples size of previous facility

Maier America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Christian Maier GmbH & Co. KG, celebrated the grand opening of its new facility on September 24. At 20,500 square feet, this expansion nearly triples the size of the previous location in Gwinnett, reflecting the company’s sustained growth.

“This expansion reflects Maier America’s commitment to meeting increasing demand and positioning ourselves as a leader in the industry,” said Maier America CEO Rob Kuehl. “We look forward to the growth this will bring the community, as we are committed to providing second chances and offering unique opportunities for individuals to rebuild and thrive through meaningful employment and skill development.”

Founded nearly 100 years ago, Christian Maier GmbH & Co.KG forms the core of the maierGROUP, which includes subsidiaries like Maier America that specialize in rotary joints also known as “unions” and are active in nearly 20 different industries. The maierGROUP credits its success to its customer-centric focus, sustainability initiatives, and commitment to education and workforce development.

The group employs over 200 associates and serves more than 500 fields of application for its products. In September 2025, Maier America will celebrate 25 years of its expansion into the U.S. market.

Innovation and growth

Florian Maier, managing partner of Christian Maier GmbH & Co. KG, emphasized the importance of the expansion, saying, “Innovating and growing here in Gwinnett, Georgia and the Americas is a significant step forward for us.”

“We are thrilled Maier America chose Gwinnett County for its expansion,” said Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “Maier America’s commitment to sustainability, eco-friendly practices and energy-efficient technologies directly align with Gwinnett’s sustainability initiatives, while positively impacting our community through furthered job growth.”

Christian Maier GmbH & Co. KG Managing Director Andreas Greiner added, “Our presence in the Americas aligns with our mission to deliver world-class quality and reliability, backed by unparalleled service to our customers globally.”

The company’s tagline, “Rotary Joints by maierGROUP — A Union for Life,” encapsulates their commitment to long-term reliability and partnerships. MaierGROUP stands for quality, reliability and worldwide service, driven by its reason for being: “Maier America exists to be in union with our clients, turning problems into solutions.”

Strong partnerships

Partnership Gwinnett Economic Development Director Andrew Hickey managed the project in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Power and the Gwinnett County Government.

“Gwinnett County’s unique location close to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, connectivity to the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick and access to robust rail and highway networks are key factors driving its growth,” said Kristi Brigman, deputy commissioner of global commerce at the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

“Georgia has built strong relationships with German companies over the last 50 years, and Maier America’s choice to foster its growth here is a further testament to our longstanding international relationships,” Brigman continued. “Congratulations to Gwinnett County and Maier America on this recent expansion.”

Matthias Hoffmann, president and CEO of the AHK German American Chamber of Commerce, remarked, “Maier America’s decision to invest in Gwinnett County not only strengthens German-American ties but also supports our shared goals of innovation, quality and sustainable growth.”

The Honorable Melanie Moltmann, consul general at the German Consulate General in Atlanta, praised the company’s success, stating, “Maier’s continued expansion highlights the strong industrial and cultural relationship between Germany and the U.S., particularly in key states like Georgia.”

“We’re excited for another global expansion into Gwinnett County,” said Partnership Gwinnett Vice President Deven Cason. “Maier America’s commitment to workforce development for technical professionals and specialized internship programs will help us build a stronger and even more skilled workforce. We look forward to their continued growth and success.”
